Combination Runs Can Save You Money
When deciding to get your sales or marketing literature printed with a commercial printer, the biggest bulk of the cost of your print job will be the set up cost. The ore colors you use, the more the set up cost is going to be, and if you decide to print in full color or CMYK, the set up charges can represent most of the job on smaller runs.
If you have several pieces that need to be printed, try to arrange it so they all print together. This will help to minimize that expensive set up cost and save you money in the long run. This argument really holds true when doing full color printing. Even though economies can be achieved when doing spot color combination runs, they are not as great as combing similar full color jobs.
It just depends on the size of the press that the printer has that you are considering using. For example, if you have a 11†x 17†brochure that you would like to print, you could save money if you had a couple of 8 ½†x 11†brochures or another 11†x 17†brochure that could be added to the same job and print them all at the same time. If the press is big enough, all of these brochures would fit on the same press sheet, thus saving you the cost of additional proofs, plates, and maybe even film if the printed is still using a film based system.
When ordering printing, it always helps you if you think of the most economical way to runt he job, whether it be an efficient quantity or # of brochures. Every little bit helps to cut your costs.
