Tri-Fold Brochures Are Effective Marketing Tools

If you are thinking about creating a brochure for yourself or company, consider using a tri-fold brochure as opposed to a full size 8 ½” x 11”, multi page brochure. Especially if you have a tight budget and still want to produce something to help your marketing costs.

Some of the advantages of the tri-fold brochure entail the following:

(1) You still get a multi-page document even though you are working with an 8 ½” x 11” piece of paper. Because the brochure is folding into thirds, you get 6 panels to place information on as opposed to just 4 of a larger brochure. If you have a large amount of information to present, you may want to consider a larger design of brochure, such as a sell sheet or line card.

(2) Cost of printing is cheaper than larger brochures. Since you are still using an 8 ½” x 11” piece of paper, the cost of printing is much less than larger sizes. Also most commercial printers have deals for 8 ½” x 11” print jobs, with a small up charge to tri-fold.

(3) Cost of mailing is much less than larger brochures. Your postage will be less to mail this brochure should you choose to send a large quantity out. Also, you can either send it in your company’s letterhead envelope or as a self-mailer, similar to a postcard. If you decide to make it a self-mailer, just be sure you factor this in when designing it.

(4) Cost of Graphic Design will be less. If you are paying a professional graphic designer to create this, your overall design costs should be less than that of a much larger, multi-page brochure.

There still is usefulness for larger, more elaborate brochures. I just wanted to point out the benefit of using a tri-fold approach, especially if your budget is tight. If you have a large marketing budget and can afford the thousands of dollars it can cost for a more elaborate brochure, by all means indulge yourself.
