Customize Your Correspondence with Personal Letterhead
Before the personal computer revolution, personal letterhead was generally only owned by the wealthy or high corporate officials. However, now that most American families have personal computers, it is very easy and inexpensive for individuals to be able to write documents on their own personal letterhead. This article provides a basic tutorial for creating your own personal letterhead using the popular Microsoft Word software.
Before beginning, it is a good idea to design how your personal letterhead is going to look. Microsoft Word supports document templates, which makes it easy to create your own unique personal letterhead. A document template is a preformatted page that contains your personal letterhead. The first thing to do is to make sure the head and footer are visible on the page and then use those areas to create your personal letterhead. When you are finished, save the document, but instead of saving it as a normal Microsoft Word document, choose "Document Template" in the drop down type selection box. You can now use this document template for your letters, memos, and other documents.
When you are ready to create new correspondence, you can choose your document template. Your personal letterhead header and footer areas will be ready, waiting for you to add your text. After completing your letter, print it out, and the resulting document will include your personal letterhead.
You can personalize the look and feel of your documents by creating your own personal letterhead. Microsoft Word provides support for document templates, which make using your personal letterhead a very simple process.
