Many of the wives are treated very badly as the men just do not know how to treat them. In general, it is expected for women to work a full time job, prepare all the meals, take care of the children and the home all by themselves.

Western influences are increasingly finding a way into Russian culture. And as this happens, the women are beginning to see that men's attitude to women is much better in the Western world. When Russian women see or hear how their friends are being treated abroad and compare it to how things are in their homeland, they soon realize they deserve much better.
